~~~ CARBINE ~~~
A carbine was a cut down version of a full length flintlock musket. The shortened barrel made the gun easier to handle on horse back. There were some locally made carbines but for the most part they were either confiscated from British stores or acquired from captured British ships. Being that the 1st dragoons were also confiscating firearms from captured German and British prisoners during the most of 1777, almost any type of musket would be appropriate to carry. These firearms can be purchased from select firearms dealers.
