We are a group of people who all share a common interest and respect for the beginnings of early America and the 18th century. We hold a variety of real world jobs. As weekend warriors, we are responsible for our training, and the gathering and upkeep of uniform and gear. We travel many places doing talks, events, and the like, presenting a small glimpse of what life was like for the dragoon soldiers during the era. It is a very fulfilling learning experience to attempt to live as they lived, even if just for a weekend at a time. If you are interested in joining the 1^st Dragoons, we would love to host you at a NWTA event as our guest. As a guest, we will provide you with a tent, clothes, and a weapon to borrow so that you can fully experience our hobby and get to know our unit. If after attending as a guest of our unit, you feel that you have found a home with us, you would then be required to fulfill the commitments of membership in this unit. Those requirements entail completing the membership application process and probationary period, acquiring the uniform and gear necessary to tell our story, having the dedication to keep your uniform and gear in serviceable order, appearing at unit meetings and also events held before the public, and helping to recruit others also interested in this unique and exciting hobby. Membership in our unit is not restricted; however this can be at times, a physically exerting hobby, and this should be considered.

The first step is to contact either the 1^st Dragoons Guest Contact Lauren Marzinske Recruiter@1stdragoons.com or the unit President Shelby Hauck President@1stdragoons.com to have any questions answered and receive a membership packet. After that one would have to attend an event as guest of the unit, for a chance to meet the rest of us and see what it is all about. After one event as a guest you are eligible to submit a formal application to become a member of the 1^st Regiment of Light Dragoons, 5^th Troop.
