~~~ SABER & SLING~~~
The saber was the most important and most used weapon a dragoon possessed. Returns show that almost every dragoon to the man had some kind of saber. Records show that our unit had many styles and varieties of sabers with some being captured from both the British and Germans, while others were made locally. Almost any kind of period saber would be acceptable for a soldier in our unit to carry. Sabers can be purchased from 18th century suppliers. The saber sling was a belt that was worn over the right shoulder that carried the saber or a saber and a bayonet. We wear belts made of white leather and manufacture both the belt frog ourselves.
