The 18th Century Work Shirt:
The 18th Century Work Shirt was a basic clothing item either made from white linen or cotton fabric. The shirt was meant to fit loosely and be roomy. Linen is the preferred for this unit, but either fabric is acceptable. Shirts can either be self produced or purchased from 18th century suppliers.
Waist Coat
The Waist Coat was also considered a basic clothing item and was essentially a long sleeved or un-sleeved vest made from linen, cotton or wool. For summer campaigning, the 1st dragoons would have worn a white linen sleeveless waistcoat. We wear the same. A cotton fabric waistcoat is also acceptable. For colder temperatures the 1st dragoons wore a red wool waistcoat. This is optional. The waistcoat can either be self produced or purchased from 18th century suppliers.
