Leigh Faulkner "Annie Fulks"

When did you join the 1st Dragoons?

My name is Annie Metz Faulkner and many of you will know me as one of the proprietress of The Turkey Roost.  I have been a reenactor since the late 1960's (Yes, I am hat old).  Joining the Dragoons is a late in life "move," and also the dream of a much younger woman come to pass.  As a very young re-enactor, I waned so badly to join the cavalry.  And now, I have not only joined the cavalry, but have done so with my son, my daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren!  How cool is that?!

What was the major factor in you joining?

I love the re-enacting "family," a bunch of wonderful and varied group closer then real family.  I love learning new things and sharing my knowledge and experiences with others.

What do you do in real life?

I am retired from "real life" now.  I was a vetrenary techniction for 45 years and am now a seamstress, horsewoman, and generally relaxed person!

What is your favorite aspect of re-enacting the American Revolution?

Reenacting gives me a chance to share my passions for history and horses with others!

What is a fun fact about yourself?

I owned my first horse at age 13 and competed at local shows in speed & action and horsemanship classes for many years.  I spent my college years herding cows in Western Nebraska and then showed hunter jumpers for a local stable.  Due to life pressures - insert JOB here - I had to give up horses for some years.  But two years ago, now in my dotage, I purchased the horse of a lifetime.  He is a now five year old most fabulous and wonderful quarter horse.  Hopefully we, Squire and I, will meet you at an event sometime!
